Catherine is a Ballet Instructor, Guest Teaching Artist, Choreographer, Adjudicator, Coach, and Mentor. Catherine is proudly certified in Progressing Contemporary Technique (PCT) and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), level one through level three. She has been an instructor for over sixteen years and specializes in Classical Ballet, Pre-Pointe/Pointe/Variations, Choreography, PBT, PCT, and Contemporary Ballet. Catherine is passionate about continuing her education and is currently applying for her MFA with a concentration in Choreography. In 2018, she continued her pedagogy education at the renowned Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Teachers Workshop, led by Founder Marcia Dale Weary and Darla Hoover.
Catherine’s approach to Dance Education is rooted in positivity, mental and emotional support, inclusivity, constructive advice, and injury prevention. Her 14 year professional dance experience in New York City, as well as coaching/mentorship styles have earned her students acceptances into prestigious Summer Intensives, Performing Arts High Schools in New York and New York City, University Dance Ensembles, University Dance Programs, and Division One Dance Teams. Many of Catherine’s students win awards for outstanding technique, and go on to teach and dance professionally.
Catherine travels as a guest teaching artist during the summers and brings her innovative classes, workshops, master classes, and choreography to all ages throughout the United States and Bermuda. She works with recreational, competitive, pre-professional, adult, and professional dancers. Catherine has been invited by studios across the US to choreograph/coach for concert pieces, commercial competitions, and ballet competitions including the Youth America Grand Prix.
Catherine has danced professionally with several Classical and Contemporary Ballet companies including Adams Company Dance (CT), Eastern Connecticut Ballet (CT), Neville Dance Theatre (NYC), Exit12 Dance Company (NYC), City Center Studios at New York City Center (NYC), and the world renowned The Metropolitan Opera Ballet at Lincoln Center (NYC). As a scholarship recipient under the direction of Peggy Lyman, Catherine attended The Hartt School, University of Hartford and holds a BFA in Dance Performance. Catherine has danced principal and soloist roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Graduation Ball, Paquita, Pas de Quatre, Don Quixote, Serenade, and Cinderella, as well as many original contemporary pieces.
Catherine was classically trained in New Hampshire under the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus completing pre-primary through intermediate examinations. Presented by Mignon Furman, Catherine received Silver and Gold with Distinction medals from the American Academy of Dance Performance Awards. She continued her training under the Vaganova syllabus with Mary McCarthy. Catherine spent summers training at Walnut Hill, Ballet Workshop of New England (under Jacqueline Cronsberg), Boston Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
Classical and Contemporary Ballet Workshop (CCBW) is one of the five workshops Catherine has created; Classical Ballet Workshop, Classical Ballet & Pointe Workshop, Pointe & Variations Workshop, and Contemporary Ballet & Improv Workshop. CCBW being the most popular, consists of classical ballet, improv, mindfulness, and contemporary choreography that has been taught across the US. Catherine’s experience with CPYB, RAD, Vaganova, Balanchine, Bournonville, and Cecchetti syllabi, methods, or styles, have been inspirations for the creation of these workshops.
Catherine also had the privilege to collaborate and appear in magazines, music videos and tv/film internationally. Some credits include; The New York Times, PRADA, Yosi Horikawa, Great Performances PBS, Vice Magazine Mexico City and France, and Photo Dot South Korea.
